COVID-19 UPDATE 5

June 12 2020

Hello Everyone.

As you are all aware, New Your State and Onondaga County have begun the process of reopening.  We are currently in Phase 3 of the 4 phase reopening plan.  Youth Sports is a part of Phase 4 which is scheduled to begin at the end of June.

We are excited at the prospect of offering baseball and softball to our children in 2020. Our board has developed a tentative plan to open our season for a July-September season. Our goal for the other divisions is to play as close to a full season slate of games as possible

Here are some of the details:

  • Registration has been re-opened.

  • TBall is Cancelled.  Our goal is to develop great skills and experiences while having fun, after careful consideration we feel that the safety guidelines combined with the Summer Heat will simply create a poor experience for children in the TBall age range. The refund process will be communicated shortly.

  • Our Interleague partners (West End, Eastwood, Sherman Park, & Lyncourt/Lemoyne/Mattydale) are meeting to discuss game schedules & locations.  Softball Schedules are also being discussed

The safety of our players and their families is of course our main priority. As a Volunteer Organization, we do our best to ensure a sound plan is in place & adheres to the Little League, State and CDC guidelines.  We are currently preparing this plan and will communicate it to our families & outline the best scenario for our players and families to remain safe.

COVID-19 UPDATE 4

May 26 2020

Hello Everyone

We hope you all had a safe and productive Memorial Day weekend.  While the weather was great it carried with it a bittersweet feeling as we would normally be in the heart of our baseball/softball seasons.  We hope someday our children can look back on this difficult time and understand the difficult decisions that have been made.  With this update we will take a look at where we now stand, and where our possibilities lie.

  • In New York, the reopening of our state has been divided into 4 phases. The reopening of our fields will be part of Phase 4.
  • Our local Parks leaders have informed us that reopening is not expected until July at the soonest
  • We are awaiting full guidelines as to what restrictions will be in place once we are allowed to resume.

Our Board of Directors will meet again in the coming days to determine if a late summer(July/August) season is feasible.  We know we have asked for your patience a number of times.  We are asking for it one last time as we make every effort to evaluate the opportunity to play this year. We hope to make a final determination by June 7th

We would also like to apologize if we have not been able to respond to every question individually.  These are unprecedented times for all of us.  Not only is our League in uncharted territory, but we as people are also facing obstacles in our personal and professional lives that we’ve never faced.  If you would like to discuss anything further related the topic of our 2020 season:

  • Please email us using the following subject line: 2020 STLL League Update.Any emails not using that subject will experience delayed responses.
  • Please include the full name(s) of your child in your email
  • We ask that you PLEASE follow the above two rules so that we may respond to your concerns in a timely manner.

Again, we thank all of you for your patience.  We hope you are staying safe.  Most importantly we still hope to see you all on the field this year.

Covid-19 Update 3

April 28 2020

Hello everyone.

We hope this email finds you and your families safe.  As you are of course aware, our season, and much of our lives. are still in a holding pattern as we look to curtail the spread of Covid-19(coronavirus)  Here is where we stand right now.

Little League International maintains a date of May 11 as the the first date regular league activities can resume.  The state of New York however has set a date of May 15 as the earliest date for resumption of normal activities.  Our local leaders have advised us they will operate according to the state mandate.   So regardless of the Little League date our fields will not be accessible until at Least May 15.  These dates are subject to change as the course of this virus changes.

Solvay Tigers Little League Board of Directors will be meeting in the next few days.  We will also be meeting with our local interleague partners to discus possible scenarios for the 2020 Season.  Of no less importance to us is the care of the fees our parents have paid for the season.  As stated previously, your paid fees are being held intact.  None of these funds have been spent in preparation for the season.  At our meeting we will also be formulating plans to return fees for those that request them, as well as partial refunds for the rest in the event we play a shortened season.  We also plan to ask for input from you, our league members, once we devise some options for proceeding with our season

This is uncharted territory for all of us.  We ask for your continued patience as we  devise the best possible plans for all involved.  We hope that by next week we have more detailed information to provide.  Please stay safe and stay tuned.

Covid-19 Update 2

April 5 2020

Hello Everyone

This is the latest update Regarding The status of our league with regard to the current situation regarding the Covid-19 crisis.

Little League International has been monitoring the developments closely.  In accordance with their guidelines, all league activity has been suspended until at least May 11.  That date corresponds with what would be our traditional Opening Day Celebration.  Of course that date is still only tentative at this point. Any further delay of the season will put any semblance of a normal regular season in jeopardy.  District 8 Little League is involved in discussions with other Little League districts at this time.  The purpose of those discussions s to determine the best course of action moving forward.

We ask for your continued patience during this uncertain time.  Please be assured Solvay Tigers Little League will review any suggestions with our families best interest in mind.  We have remained fiscally responsible.  Your registrations are safe.  As soon as the situation is clearer to all we will report to you.  We will be prepared to issue refunds if necessary.   If a reduced season is appropriate we will of course take that into consideration as it pertains to the fees you have paid.  As soon as we know when we can proceed, and how the process will work we will communicate with you.  We thank you again for your patience.  Please stay safe.

All of you are undoubtedly aware of what has transpired here in the U.S. over the last few days. As information continues to become available regarding the increasing spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), we want you to know that the board of Solvay Tigers Little League has been monitoring the developments closely with the well-being of our children and families at the center of our thoughts.  We have also been awaiting guidance from our governing body, Little League International.

  • The board will continue to plan behind the scenes for what we hope will still be a successful season.
  • We will be reaching out to those of you that have volunteered with additional info as we have it

In the event that the season is cancelled all families will receive full refunds of their league fees.
